Fair Trade Materials

Jewellery is certainly a luxury rather than a necessity which is why One Leaf chooses to source fair trade and eco- friendly supplies whenever possible. For One Leaf, it’s about ‘giving back’ and supporting other human beings in our world.
Currently One Leaf utilizes two fair trade materials: African Glass Beads and Acai Beads.
African glass beads are produced by either the Asante people in villages just south and west of Kumasi, or by the Krobo people, located in the Akuapem hills and in the coastal Plains east of Accra. These people are famously known for their craft of bead making. All African beads utilized in One Leaf pieces are made from recycled glass and hand painted. Incredibly, these beads are extremely hardy, making them resistant to breakage and perfect for jewellery.
The Acai beads used in One Leaf jewellery are 100% handmade from 100% natural acai seeds. The seeds are extracted from the centre of the acai berry which is most commonly found in Northern Brazil. These beads are created by Amazon families by hand drilling each bead then dying and drying them. The beauty of these beads resides in their unique size and shape determined by nature itself.
One Leaf utilizes beads of all shapes and sizes and aims to showcase the natural beauty within each gemstone and bead. Even the materials that aren’t quite suited for a beautiful even line in a bracelet, find a home within a necklace to create that truly unique piece.
